Having extensive background in several conventional medicine settings, Dr. Paulson realized it was missing a few pieces in providing the best care and actual longterm solutions. As a DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) who is also trained in Functional Medicine, you will receive thorough, attentive and comprehensive care and solutions.
Functional medicine determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual. This encompasses a whole-systems approach. The programs and care offered through Dr. Paulson use a functional medicine approach in addition to her advanced training in nutrition, energy work, yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation. This is holistic and personalized care.
Nurse Practitioners (NP) are nurses with advanced training to assess, diagnose, prescribe to promote health and manage disease states. Many states grant NP’s full practice authority to practice without physician supervision. Dr. Paulson is a dually board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse, IFM Certified Practitioner with her DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice.) She is highly educated with well-rounded medical and health training.
Dr. Jennifer Paulson is a dually board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse, IFM Certified Practitioner, and Registered Yoga Teacher. Prior to opening her own practice, Jennifer worked in conventional medicine in a variety of settings, but never felt satisfied with the “band-aid approach” to patient care. She pursued continued education in Functional and Integrative medicine to treat the whole person and the root causes of their symptoms. The Functional Medicine approach offered lifestyle medicine and made much more sense with its holistic perspective and solutions.
She’s humbly witnessed firsthand how functional medicine has healed her patients and changed their lives.
I understand the struggles of my patients. I’ve lived through very similar struggles myself. My family and I have faced the glooming diagnostic labels of autism, dyslexia, asthma, IBS, mycotoxin illness, chronic fatigue syndrome, genetic conditions, and autoimmune disease. I know what it’s like to be diagnosed and work through healing journeys. These personal challenges and defeats were catalysts in me changing my practice style and educational focus.
The conventional medicine model was leaving out critical components necessary to promote wellness and healthy aging. Lifestyle changes like nutrition, stress management, hormone therapy, and gut health are the cornerstones of optimal health. I ventured into integrative and functional medicine training as a way to heal myself, my family and my patients.
Through functional medicine and yoga, I was able to reverse many of these diseases and reject the diagnostic labels put upon me and my family. In the past five years, I have used my clinical education and expertise to manage my own peri-menopausal journey. My mission is to share my knowledge of functional medicine and healing practices with my patients, and to help them live their healthiest lives.
